Detailed Description
A delightfully polished wine, rounded out by bottle age. Scented with roses, violets and blue fruits, with a note of cedar. In the mouth it’s fresh, with plush dark cherry and plum fruit, a sprinkling of spice, and a refreshing line of bright acidity. Powerful, showing the concentration of the smaller frost and drought-hit vintage, with a driving, long finish.
Producer Information
One of Spain's most prestigious winemakers, Catalan-born Xavier Ausàs worked for over 25 years for the legendary Vega Sicilia winery before starting his personal project. From 1990 to 1997, he was the assistant oenologist to legendary winemaker Mariano García. In 1998, Mr. Ausàs was promoted to the position of technical director of the company. Then, after his long and fruitful period at Vega Sicilia, he decided to left the company to start Ausàs Bodegas y Viñedos in 2016. The project of Ausàs Bodegas y Viñedos greatly benefits from the exhaustive knowledge of the various subzones of Ribera del Duero acquired by Mr. Ausàs during his 30-year experience working in the region, as well as from the rapports that he built throughout those years with many local winegrowers. The wines of Ausàs Bodegas y Viñedos aim to convey Mr. Ausàs's personal interpretation of the Ribera del Duero terroir, which is based on three key concepts: aromatic purity, freshness and tannic elegance. The idea of a personal vision is clearly stated in the name of the flagship wine of the winery, Ausàs Interpretación. Made from a patchwork of vineyards with different characteristics, the wine is a virtuoso piece of work which presents an exquisitely balanced and harmonious picture of the region.
