2017 | Raymond Vineyards | Generations Cabernet Sauvignon

A deep garnet purple in color, the nose reveals black currant, baked black cherries, anise, boysenberries and a hint of candied violets. This is a fruit-forward, juicy and bold wine with layers of black and blue fruits, dark chocolate and a touch of mint and spice. Full-bodied and rich with round and finely-grained tannins there is a nice freshness on the long and fragrant finish.

• Wine Advocate: Deep garnet-purple colored, it is a little youthfully subdued. With coaxing the nose opens out to reveal compelling black currant pastilles, baked black cherries, boysenberries and tilled soil with suggestions of candied violets, aged meats and anise. Full-bodied, the palate is absolutely laden with black and blue fruit layers, framed by wonderfully ripe, grainy tannins and lovely background freshness, finishing long and fragrant.

• Jeb Dunnuck: 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Generations is a brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon that offers textbook blackcurrants, green tobacco, iron, and salty mineral aromas and flavors. Rich, full-bodied, nicely concentrated, and textured, it's a beautiful wine.

Raymond Vineyards is one of the Napa Valley's most visually intriguing estates, with an award-winning winery featuring a range of themed tasting areas. Located in Rutherford of Napa Valley, the winery produces a range of wines, predominately made with Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Rutherford, St Helena, and southern Napa. The estate was founded in 1970 by Roy Raymond Sr. After the first vintage in 1974 the wines quickly found acclaim, and the estate began to grow. Raymond's winery has become a popular tourism destination, with multiple tasting rooms and experiences including a sensory wine corridor, a blending room where visitors can make their own wine, and the private Red Room, where only certain wines are poured. Raymond has a large catalog of wines, focusing mainly on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. This includes a range of varietal wines from the estate vineyard in Rutherford, a range of Cabernet Sauvignon wines from many different Napa Valley subregions, and a range of more affordable wines under the Family Classic label. Recently, Raymond Vineyards collaborated with singer-songwriter John Legend to create the LVE Collection, a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon with the artist's stamp of approval.
