      Detailed Description

Rich ruby red. Fresh spiciness in the foreground on the nose, restrained fruit, slightly reminiscent of nail polish. Very clear on the palate, with dense tannins, medium-bodied, juicy and exhibits small wild berries on the finish.

        Producer Information

Tenuta Il Quinto extends over 70 hectares on the hills of Magliano in Toscana, in the south of the Maremma; in this niche of vegetation, there are our vineyards, 13 hectares cultivated organically. Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea to the south and protected by Monte Amiata to the north, Tenuta il Quinto enjoys a temperate climate. The hot summers, relieved by the sea breeze, and the mild winters, create an ideal climate for our vines and a temperature range favorable to perfecting ripening. The uniqueness of our terroir is the result of the connotation of the soils: calcareous and clayey, fresh and rich in minerals, interspersed with an important skeleton, whose filtering properties ensure natural drainage to the soil. The skeleton is essentially made up of marl, clayey schist capable of conserving the humidity of the winter rains, subsequently allowing the deeper roots to draw from it during the summer heat. In order to protect the precious characteristics of our soils, we limit the passage of heavy agricultural vehicles as much as possible, in favor of manual interventions. In harmony with the natural elements: wind, temperature variations, and humidity are the protagonists that contribute to the maturity of the vine. We choose to rely on these elements to work and plan, to select the land for the varieties based on the exposure and the characteristics of the soil; later on, punctual analyzes allow us to harvest the different plots at the most opportune moment. A precision that applies to all stages of our wine's elaboration: winemaking benefits from the same attention.
