Producer Information
Carles Ortiz and Esther Nin are the owners of Cellar Familia Nin Ortiz with vineyards in Porrera and Torroja. Esther is also the oenologist of the famous winery Clos Erasmus. In 2004 Esther bought 3 hectares and started producing her own wine "Nit de Nin". In 2007 she met Carles who owned 10 hectares and was selling his grapes at the time. He had been toying with the idea of producing his own wine and adding more value to his vineyards. Meanwhile, Cellar Nin Ortiz is a family business with 14 hectares and an annual production of 25,000 bottles. The company is completely biodynamic and only uses autochthonous yeasts. The goal of this particular winery is to produce elegant wines, with a minimum of sulfites and as little processing in the cellar as possible. Weeding and picking the grapes is still done by hand, plowing by mules.
