Splendid single malt from Aultmore, matured for 14 years, including a finish in a selection of first-fill bourbon hogsheads from the Koval distillery in Chicago. The whisky was independently bottled in 2023.

Aultmore 14 Year Old 2009 Benchmark Murray McDavid Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Buttery banana bread, toasted oak, juicy pears, and creamy vanilla.

Palate: Soft, stewed orchard fruits, creamy grist, and vanilla custard, with a dusting of cinnamon and a smidge of nutmeg.

Finish: Oily malt, caramelised biscuits, and mellow oak char.

Distillery Information

Aultmore distillery was founded in 1895 by Alexander Edward, then owner of the Benrinnes distillery. The distillery was originally powered by a waterwheel, and was soon adapted to use a steam engine instead, which ran day and night for 70 years, apart from maintenance.
