2008 vintage Caol Ila single malt, matured for 15 years and finished in a premier cru Bordeaux wine barrique before bottling in 2023. A total of 239 bottles join the Infrequent Flyers collection from indie bottler Alistair Walker.

Nose: Aromatic waves of pipe smoke and peat join grilled stone fruits and poached plums.

Palate: Dense peat smoke tangles with sweet candied citrus and vinous fruit, while cacao and toasted nuts nestle beneath.

Finish: A wave of pepper wraps things up, with chocolate raisins and earthen peat in tow.

Distillery Information

It was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson. The distillery did not fare well, and changed hands in 1854 when Norman Buchanan, owner of the Isle of Jura Distillery, took over. In 1863 the business was acquired by Bulloch Lade & Co, of Glasgow, traders in whisky stocks.
