Distillery Information

A.van Wees distillery de Ooievaar is the last authentic distillery left in Amsterdam. Settled in the Driehoekstraat, in the centre of the 'Jordaan'. Their specialities are Old Dutch Genevas and liquors. Their products are creative compositions exclusively made of pure natural raw materials, which you will surely note whilst tasting them. They inherited their knowledge about the taste properties of fruit, flowers, plants, roots and seeds. This knowledge is used to balance the taste, without the addition of artificial flavours. The drinks are coloured with natural colourants. A.van Wees distillery de Ooievaar was founded in 1782. Until 1970 they delivered their products in casks to bars and restaurants. Due to changing markets and the threatening diminishing quality of the Dutch cultural inheritance, they decided to stick to their traditional assortment and started selling their products in stone and glass bottles. At this very moment the distillery was run by Fenny van Wees, who runs the business with a small loyal crew. The reputation of the distillery is based on their very past. These roots, their involvement with their products and the extreme interest for their professionalism keeps them far away from mass production. Preserving a once world-wide famous Dutch cultural inheritance, authenticity and quality are the reasons for inspiration.
