The West Cork 12 Year Old Rum Cask is the first in a three-bottle series of 12-year-old Irish Single Malts with cask finishes. This release was aged entirely in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks for at least 12 years and then finished for at least 6 months in rum casks.
West Cork 12 Year Old Rum Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Pecans, pineapple and a warming kick of Christmas-y cinnamon.
Palate: Oodles of vanilla, with another helping of cinnamon imparting depth.
Finish: Perfect, long lasting finish.
Distillery Information
Founded in 2003 by three close friends Denis McCarthy, Ger McCarthy & John O’Connell in Union Hall, West Cork, Ireland; West Cork Distillers was inspired by the proud history of artisan food & beverage production in Cork. The trio had some experience of this in their previous occupations, as Ger & Denis were deep sea trawlermen and John was a research & development scientist for some large blue chip food & beverage companies.
