Detailed Description

A single-vintage Bas-Armagnac distilled in 1976 and aged for decades in French oak casks within the historic cellars of Maison Dartigalongue. Time has shaped this spirit into a deeply expressive and elegant example of mature Armagnac. The profile balances concentrated dried fruits with polished oak, gentle spice, and developed rancio complexity. A refined vintage bottling that reflects both patience and traditional Gascon distillation.

1976 Dartigalongue Vintage Bas Armagnac | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Intense prune, dried fig, and candied orange peel layered with vanilla, toasted walnut, and old oak. Subtle notes of leather and cocoa develop with air.

Palate: Silky and structured with caramelized plum, honeyed raisin, and roasted almond. Nutmeg, clove, and fine tannins provide depth while preserving fruit richness.

Finish: Long and warming with lingering dried fruit, delicate spice, and elegant rancio notes that fade slowly.

Distillery Information

Founded in 1838, Maison Dartigalongue is one of the oldest Armagnac houses in France. Located in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, the family-owned producer is known for its traditional column distillation and long aging in Gascon oak. The house maintains extensive vintage reserves, allowing for the release of well-matured single-year expressions such as the 1976. Dartigalongue emphasizes authenticity, terroir, and slow evolution in cask. This vintage reflects the house style: structured, fruit-driven, and gracefully aged over decades.
