Detailed Description
Detailed Description
A deep, vibrant brick red colour. The bouquet is lively, fresh and complex revealing enticing, rich mulberry and cassis Cabernet aromas backed by traditional Penfolds oak complexity. Highly defined and tightly structured, this magnificent, full bodied wine shows fully ripe berry-cassis fruit flavours complexed by stylish oak handling with a backbone of firm, yet finely grained oak tannins adding to the great palate length.
Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The three luxury-priced offerings from Penfolds include a spectacular 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Bin 707. This opaque purple-colored wine exhibits a huge, jammy, blackcurrant, vanilla, licorice, and earthy-scented nose, as well as massive concentration of fruit, glycerin, and body. Readers will find plenty of sweet tannin in the awesomely-endowed finish.
- Wine Spectator: Lovely, graceful style, with a generous core of plum and blueberry flavors that swirl around nicely, with some coffee and herb overtones, on the artfully integrated finish. Progressively builds in character with each sip. Approachable now. *Top 100 Wines of 1997*
Producer Information
Penfolds has been producing remarkable wines since 1844 and indisputably led the development of Australian fine wine in the modern era. The introduction of Penfolds Grange in 1951 forever changed the landscape of Australian fine wine. Since then a series of stand-out wines both white and red have been released under the Penfolds masthead. Peter Gago, Penfolds Chief Winemaker and only the 4th custodian of Grange, relishes the opportunity to bring Penfolds to the world stage and is an enthusiastic ambassador and natural educator. Penfolds came to the attention of the US market when 1990 Grange was Wine Spectator’s ‘Wine of the Year’. Since then, Penfolds Grange has become one of the most collectable wines of the world and was honored to grace the front cover, once again, of Wine Spectator, with declarations of Grange as Australia’s Icon.
