      Detailed Description

Ripe red fruit, sweet spices and Mediterranean herbs on the nose, a long spicy finish and balanced acidity.

        Producer Information

At the foothills of Vermio mountain, in the northwestern part of the P.D.O. Xinomavro zone, in gentle slope, between a forest of oaks, the grandfather Mark Markovitis planted in 1970, 60 acres of vineyard. Xinomavro grape, the noblest red variety of northern Greece finds in Naoussa the ideal vineyard to develop wines with high alcohol content, right acidity, round tannins and bright color under strict conditions of low per hectare yields. In 1988, they started organic viticulture (certified by the Dutch SKAL), being the first Greek winery with such an approach. Ī™n 1992, the first Greek wine was bottled from organic grapes, and from 1995 until today their cultivation is certified by DĪ™O (the official Greek certification company). After the extensions of vineyards by 40 acres in 1990 and implantations in recent years, the vineyard now occupies a single area of ā€‹ā€‹80 acres. In this area it is exclusively cultivated the variety Xinomavro. The yield per hectare is around 450 kg of grapes. The bad years are not bottled, while production reaches up to 50,000 bottles.
