• Wine Advocate: Just as good, with a deep, layered profile of black currants, cherry, licorice, herb and chocolate, the 2009 Uriah (54% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec) spent 18 months in 55% new French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, rich and with good acidity, it’s a silky, elegant 2009 that’s a joy to drink. Enjoy it over the coming decade or more. Drink now-2023. Located in the northern part of the Walla Walla Valley and producing wines completely from their estate vineyard, Spring Valley Vineyard falls under the Ste. Michelle umbrella and the wines are made by Serge Laville. Featuring polished, elegant profiles that have solid richness, these wines will all have long drink windows.

• Wine Enthusiast: This Merlot-dominated blend features juicy berry flavors and tart, citrusy acids. It has gentle details of pepper, herb, lemon verbena and orange peel. It’s a pleasure to see more elegant complexity in these latest Spring Valley reds.

Producer Information

Spring Valley Vineyard is a limited-production winery producing only estate-grown-and-bottled red wines. For more than a century, the Corkum-Derby family has been farming the area known as Spring Valley. Grapes were first planted in 1993. Spring Valley produced its first estate grown and bottled wine, Uriah, with the 1999 vintage. Today, Uriah is one of Washington's most acclaimed red wines, and the Spring Valley family of wines has grown to include seven red wines: Uriah (Merlot-based blend), Frederick (Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend), Nina Lee (100% Syrah), Katherine Corkrum (100% Cabernet Franc), Mule Skinner (100% Merlot), Derby (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) and the newest release, Sharilee (Petit Verdot). The names given to their wines are a tribute to the family members who have struggled and succeeded in farming the same land where Spring Valley Vineyard now flourishes.
