Rich and very vivid, with a beautiful array of plum, blackberry and boysenberry confiture flavors that stream through, carried by a racy graphite spine as notes of apple wood, anise, black tea and violet check in through the finish.

Reviews:

• Wine Advocate: The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate from Spring Mountain looks to have slightly sweeter, riper fruit, loads of black raspberry and blueberry notes, with floral underpinnings. It's medium to full-bodied with graphite, good tannin and a full-bodied mouthfeel. This should turn out to be an impressive wine. However, patience is necessary, as this wine should be cellared for 5-6 years and drunk over the following 2-3 decades. Both wines were still in barrel.

• Vinous: The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Correlation is a big, dramatic wine. Black cherry, mocha, cloves, chocolate, licorice and new leather are all pushed forward. This is an especially succulent, unctuous wine for the vintage, but there is also quite a bit of underlying power as well. The Correlation is made from estate fruit, with the addition of fruit from a neighboring property, and also includes a bit of Merlot.

After a measured and patient search for a vineyard property in the Napa Valley, the Steffens Family ended their quest when they acquired a forty-acre property atop Spring Mountain. Planted in the early 1980’s to eight acres of each Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, the property met the family’s stringent requirements to sustainably grow premium grapes allowing them to craft wines with a true sense of place. Founded in 1999 and named after proprietor Launny Steffens’ life and background in the world of finance with a theme encompassed by numerics, and a keen interest in numerology — “seven” being a number of luck in western culture, while “eight” follows the meanings of prosperity and happiness in eastern culture — Vineyard 7 & 8 is the culmination of the family’s pursuit for producing fine wines including Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
