Involuntary Commitment is a project from the winemaking team at Andrew Will Winery. The 2018 is a well-balanced blend of 3% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot from the Columbia Valley AVA. On the palate, layers of red cherries, wet stone and herbal notes with silky tannins and a long elegant finish. 2018 started out with up and down temperatures in the spring but caught up to typical ripening levels in the Summer. A cooler September and October allowed delayed hang times and wines that show full phenolic ripeness while maintaining bright acids and elegant structure.

• Wine Advocate: The 2015 Champoux Vineyard is stunning, busting from the glass with a precocious bouquet of ripe cherries, minty blackberries, violets and anise. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and almost voluptuous, with velvety, melting tannins that frame a succulent core of beautifully delineated fruit. The finish is long and fragrant. Infinitely seductive and exquisitely balanced, I struggle to remember an Andrew Will Champoux that was quite this delicious straight out of the gates, yet the wine clearly has the potential to evolve for two decades.

Producer Information

Andrew Will Winery is a leading Washington wine producer, named after the son and nephew of founder Chris Camarda. They specialize in producing single-vineyard wines, sourced from mulitple AVAs (American Viticultural Area) including Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain and Columbia Valley.There are several wines in the collection, made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as well as Cabernet Franc and Malbec that are produced as varietals and as Bordeaux-blends. Since the inaugural vintage in 1994, the winery has grown to produce approximately 4500 cases each year.The winery is situated on Vashon Island in Puget Sound, but fruit is sourced from four vineyards on the mainland: Ciel du Cheval in the Red Mountain AVA, Champoux and Discovery Vineyards in Horse Heaven Hills and Two Blondes – Andrew Will's 30-acre (12 ha) estate-owned vineyard – in Zillah within the Yakima Valley AVA.
