        Reviews:

        • Vinous: Bright violet color. Expansive, mineral-accented blue fruit, floral and five-spice powder aromas, along with hints of white pepper and candied licorice. Offers sappy, impressively concentrated boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors that spread out and become sweeter with aeration. Closes impressively long and smooth, with resonating florality and fine-grained tannins.

        Producer Information

Domaine de la Grand'Cour is a Beaujolais estate with the majority of its vineyards in Fleurie. It produces a number of red wines sourced from different vineyards in Fleurie and Brouilly, all from the Gamay wine grape variety. The domaine was founded in 1969 by Jean Dutraive, making it one of the oldest estates in the region. It farms a little more than 10 hectares (24 acres) of vineyards with fewer than 1000 cases produced annually from each plot, with some variation depending on the vintage. In the winery, the domaine practices a number of minimalist winemaking techniques. All the fruit is hand-harvested, wild yeasts are used for fermentation and carbonic maceration is kept at low temperatures. Aging often takes place in used Burgundy oak barrels but depending on the vintage and the cuvée, cement vats and used wooden foudres can be employed. All wines produced by Domaine de la Grand'Cour has no filtering or fining techniques applied prior to bottling.
