Producer Information
The Fürsthof in the small town of Metzdorf has been family-owned since the 13th century. Located on the lower reaches of the Sauer, a picturesque border river between Germany and Luxembourg. We cultivate our vineyards here in the middle of a green idyll. The Fürsthof was originally an agricultural business with livestock, wine and arable farming, but in the last few decades Martin and Sissi have completely converted it to the production of quality wine with a regional character. Michael is the third generation winemaker. He is well educated, well traveled, curious and ambitious. He relies on quality, knowledge of nature and gentle production methods. He wants to bring out the local wine character. It is precisely at this point that the winemaker tends to pay homage to the landscape, praise the perfect soils, and idolize the climate. Everything is absolutely fantastic. Nobody talks about hailstorms, flocks of hungry birds, or climate change and its challenges. So let's be honest: Viticulture is complex and eventful work, it takes time and sometimes nerves. But in the end we are rewarded with these wonderful wines. In any case, this much is certain: the climate is mild, you can rely on the shell limestone soil, the Sauer keeps the valley warm, and we want to produce great wines for every day right here.
