Glistening ruby. Vibrant, spice-accented red and blue fruits and pungent flowers on the highly perfumed nose. Sappy and seamless in the mouth, the spine of juicy acidity adding energy to plush boysenberry and raspberry preserve flavors. Shows sharp definition and repeating florality on the persistent, gently tannic finish, which leaves sweet red fruit and smoky mineral notes behind.
Producer Information
Originally from Champagne, Anne Sophie Dubois trained in Burgundy before taking on her 8ha domaine in Fleurie. Farming is organic certified and vinification is traditional. The grapes are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts, except the Cocottes which undergoes a Chauvet-style semi-carbonic fermentation. There is no remontage or pigeage, elevage is in old Burgundian oak, and the wines are neither fined nor filtered. From old vines, planted on granite soil these are these are wines of haunting fragrance and delicacy built in a Burgundian mould but with the exuberant fruit of gamay.
