      Reviews:

      • Wine Enthusiast: This Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec blend could tempt bears with its sweet aromas of blackberry jam and red-clover flowers. The accompanying notes of freshly pulled espresso shots and a cedar-lined sock drawer are equally compelling. The full-bodied wine coats the palate with concentrated flavors of blueberry compote, chocolate cake and raspberry gelato. The wine's tannins are plush, with acidity levels low enough to promote hibernation.
      • James Suckling: Aromas of ripe dark and purple fruit with vanilla, licorice, mocha and pine wood. Its big and wide on the palate with plush, velvet-like tannins. Very textural, with a dusty and velvety mouth-feel and a lingering finish. Attractive fruit underneath.

      Producer Information

Intrinsic Wine Co is a Washington wine brand that exclusively makes a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon. The brand was created by Juan Muñoz Oca, head wine maker at Columbia Crest, and his team. Columbia Crest and Intrinsic are both owned by the largest wine company in Washington, Chateau Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from different Columbia Crest properties; half came from the with the Eagle and Plow Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, and half from the Beverly Vineyard in Columbia Valley – the same vines often used to produce the Columbia Crest Reserve series. The 2015 vintage introduced a small amount of Cabernet Franc as well, 10 percent, sourced from the Shaw Vineyard – little enough to keep Cabernet Sauvignon on the label. The wine carries the Columbia Valley designation. The Intrinsic label, a distinctive feature of the brand and its marketing, was designed by the Brooklyn-based street artist Zimer. In 2020, Intrinsic announced its partnership with leading LGBTQ+ media organization GLAAD.
