      Detailed Description

      J. Mourat's Collection Rosé is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Cabernet Franc and 20% Gamay from vines that average 20 years of age, grown on soils of schist and rhyolite, silica-rich volcanic rock. All grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, then aged in tank for 5 months before bottling. In the glass, the wine shimmers a brilliant pink color with salmon highlights. The nose is wonderfully aromatic with an enticing fragrance of fresh-picked red currants, wild raspberries and a delightful spicy, rocky undertone. On the palate, the Mourat rosé really crackles with bright, snappy acidity that provides scintillating energy with an alluring refreshment. There is an excellent balance of fresh fruit flavors and steely minerality that have an added herbal note on the vibrant finish.

      Producer Information

At Les Mourat, we have been vibrating for the Vendée since 1880... In 1976, Jean Mourat, a young oenologist, bought the farm of Les Ardilliers and a few hectares to make his own wine. Today, Jérémie Mourat has taken over by striving to perpetuate the tradition while bringing a breath of fresh air. Thus, over the past 10 years, the estate has been gradually converted to organic farming, until the teams become true followers. Planted mainly with chenin for the whites and négrette, pinot noir and cabernet franc for the reds, the Mourat vineyards offer a wide range of wines in all three colours. From the most contemporary, to the most fruity aromas, to the most typical of good ageing, Mourat wines have one thing in common: to respect nature by revealing the flavours of the place where they grow.
