      Detailed Description

This 2022 Fumé Blanc emanates the classic Dry Creek Vineyard “house” style of Sauvignon Blanc. Aromatics of lemon, lime and grapefruit leap forward from the glass with both fruit and floral nuances of nectarine, peach, jasmine and orange blossom. On the palate, the wine is intense and bright with passionfruit, tangerine and cucumber. Underlying minerality and hints of lemongrass, parsley and mango contribute to this wine’s refreshing, crisp finish.

      Reviews:

      • Wilfred Wong: The 2022 Dry Creek Vineyard Fume Blanc is on point in its varietal category. This wine excels with aromas and flavors of dried herbs, light savory spices, and mineral notes. Serve it with linguine and clams in a savory, white wine reduction sauce.

      Producer Information

Dry Creek Vineyard is a leading producer in Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, California. It has gained particular renown for its selection of wines from the Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel grape varieties. Dry Creek Vineyard was founded in 1972 by David Stare, with the purchase and replanting of a prune orchard opposite the Dry Creek General Store. Stare was at the forefront of the formation of the Dry Creek Valley AVA in 1983, and was the first to plant Sauvignon Blanc in Dry Creek Valley – and the first in Sonoma County to release a Fumé Blanc. There are five wines in the current portfolio made from Sauvignon Blanc, including Soleil ("sun" in French), a late-harvest, botritized dessert wine crafted in the style of a Sauternes. Dry Creek is also considered a leading specialist of Zinfandel, and there are a range of wines made from this variety, including the core Old Vines and Heritage Vines cuvées, and a range of single-vineyard wines. There is also a well-regarded, Loire-style Chenin Blanc from the Clarksburg AVA, and the DCV Estate Block 10 Chardonnay, of which around 1250 cases are made annually. Despite making a name for its Zinfandel, Dry Creek Vineyard was reportedly the first estate to use the term Meritage on the label of a 1985 vintage red wine, released in 1987. The current group of Bordeaux-style reds is headed by The Mariner, a blend based on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot along with Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, sourced from the best hillside sites in the Dry Creek Valley. There are 185 acres (75 hectares) of estate vineyards, which provide around 65 percent of the overall production. The remainder comes from other Dry Creek Valley vineyards managed by long-term contract growers. Dry Creek Vineyard has a strong assocation with sailing, and is a regular sponsor of races, regattas and awards.
