Conecuh Ridge Distillery has released a new extension of its Clyde May's Alabama Style whiskey lineup. It's an eight year-old, cask-strength whiskey which has been aged in charred American oak barrels. The release was officially bottled at 117 proof, and hit shelves in October 2016.
Clyde May’s 8 Year Old Cask Strength Alabama Style Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is at first difficult to find behind the heat, then offers minty and herbal notes, and lighter oak, vanilla, and spice.
Palate: A bit dry and astringent on the palate, with oak and spice blocking a background sweetness.
Finish: Big flourish on the finish, with a tongue tingling spice and heat, and rich sweetness.
Distillery Information
Conecuh Ridge Distillery, which is actually based in Long Island, N.Y., will distill and bottle the whiskey in Troy. One of the goals of the company was to develop an artisan distillery in Alabama, with an interactive way for visitors to see how it is crafted.
