Detailed Description

The Excellia range of tequila comes to us from two sets of very carefully and talented hands, those of Jean-Sébastien Robicquet, who was a brand creator and producer of G'Vine Gin, and Carlos Camarena, an award-winning master blender for Tapatio tequila. The tequila itself is made from 100% blue agave grown in the highlands of Jalisco. Following distillation, the tequila is aged in a mix of vintage grand cru sauternes casks and 20 year old Cognac barrels, resulting in a unique flavour profile.

Excellia Anejo Tequila Tasting Notes

Nose: Aroma of citrus, ripe and sweet grapes, dried apricots and pears.

Palate: Notes of baking spices, herbs, leather and cedar. Intense, round woody flavors are complemented by notes of citrus, tingling pepper and fresh spices.

Finish: Long, gradual finish with balancing notes of cocoa and orchard fruits.

Distillery Information

Don Felipe Camarena was born into a family that had distilled tequila since back in the early 1800s but the family’s original distillery was destroyed and abandoned during the Mexican Revolution. As a young man Don Felipe followed his family’s roots by growing and selling agave to other distillers. He prospered and in 1937 opened La Alteña Distillery in the highlands of Los Altos close to the town of Arandas. Alteña literally translates as ‘lady from the highlands’
