Gilbey's Spey Royal Bot.1950s Blended Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: A delightfully complex spicy and perfumed nose.

Palate: There is a much greater presence of peat in the taste than the nose suggests. The smokiness quickly hits the palate and then tapers off.

Finish: Long and dry with gentle warm spice.

Distillery Information

Gilbey’s was founded in 1872 by brothers Walter and Alfred Gilbey, who began distilling in Camden Town, London after the Crimean War. As they grew and became more successful in the 1880s, they acquired whisky distilleries in Scotland, such as Glen Spey and Strathmill, as well as gin distilleries in Canada and Australia.
