The first ever age statement release from Lochlea (and, at the time of release, the distillery's oldest), this limited-edition single malt was released on Burns Night 2024 – fitting seeing as Robert Burns lived and worked on Lochlea Farm.

Lochlea 5 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Notably dry and nutty at first, giving way to red fruit and red florals, with a touch of woody vanilla in the background.

Palate: Dark and rich, with sweet cherry jam, candied spices, and hints of balsamic. Tarte tatin lurks underneath.

Finish: Drying spices make a return, with black pepper, nutmeg, and a pinch of tobacco – though the sweeter notes from the palate still linger.

Distillery Information

Lochlea was a cattle farm when Neil McGeoch acquired it in 2006. But at 222 acres there was potential for more, and a need to establish a more viable operation. The answer for Lochlea was barley, which was grown on this land before to feed livestock.
