Los Siete Misterios Tobala 2021 | 700ML

A marvellous mezcal from Los Siete Misterios, produced with the 2021 harvest of tobala agave. Growing wild, often in remote places, tobala can be complicated to harvest, but the work certainly pays off with layers of aromatic smoked spices and tropical fruit joining the herbaceous core of this traditionally produced spirit.

Los Siete Misterios Tobala 2021 | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Super lush with vegetal and tropical fruit tones, a touch of spice, baked agave and a hint of smoke.

Palate: While the flavors are not as complex as the nose, I am getting some dry earth, tobacco, roasted agave, some spearmint and just a tad of ripe tropical fruit.

Finish: Big and bold in flavor and intensity with a medium viscosity and a nice long finish.

Distillery Information

Los Siete Misterios (The Seven Secrets or Mysteries) was founded in 2010 with the mission of preserving the dying tradition of mezcal making. This expression is produced from 100% organic arroqueño agave which is produced traditionally and is double-distilled in clay pot-pot stills. It is unaged and is bottled at a proof of 97.4. The seven mysteries are the bottlings themselves; they have seven expressions available, each representing a different type of agave.
