Ricard Pastis de Marseille was first made in 1932 and named for its inventor Paul Ricard. In 1962, the label became a company on its own and eventually became part of Pernod-Ricard, one of the largest spirits producers in the world. It is a liqueur infused with star-anise for a heavy, sweet, and licorice flavored spirit.

Nose: There’s a green, almost grassy, note to the pungent anise and liquorice nose.

Palate: The muscular palate demands taming with. Rich anise, but bone dry with a touch of fennel and herbal complexity, soft liquorice and minty lemon freshness.

Finish: Long lingering herbal liquorice.

1805 – Maison Pernod Fils (simply known as Pernod Fils) is founded in Pontarlier, Franche-Comté, eastern France, by Henri-Louis Pernod and begins production of the anise-flavored liquor known as absinthe.
