      Detailed Description

This full-bodied wine offers intense aromas and flavors of red berries offset by notes of leather and incense, supported by firm, elegant tannins. Tenute Silvio Nardi's classic Brunello is a blend of the finest grapes from the Manachiara and Casale del Bosco estates. Silvio Nardi follows the strict DOCG laws required of a classified Brunello di Montalcino. Yield is limited and only the top 70% of the hand harvested grapes is used to make the wine. The fruit is carefully handpicked and sorted. The wine is aged in two types of oak and in the bottle before release.

      Producer Information

The company was founded by Silvio Nardi in 1950 upon his purchase of the west-facing Casale del Bosco estate west of Montalcino. Tenute Silvio Nardi released its first vintage of Brunello di Montalcino eight years later and in 1962, Nardi expanded the estate's winemaking operations with the acquisition of the Manachiara estate and its 40 hectares (99 acres) of east- and southeast-facing vineyards. These two key vineyard sites were added to in 1972 with the purchase of a third estate – Bibbiano. Together these properties comprise 36 vineyard plots covering 80 hectares (198 acres) and lie at altitudes from 140 to 480 meters (460 to 1575ft) above sea level. From 1990, Tenute Silvio Nardi has been under the control of Emilia Nardi. She has overseen the release of the estate's premium single-vineyard Brunello di Montalcino wines.
