This limited edition from Speyside's Cardhu distillery was released as part of the 2019 Special Releases from Diageo. Matured in Amontillado sherry-seasoned hogsheads for 14 years, it was bottled in 2019 at a natural cask strength of 55% abv. Just 4,860 bottles have been filled with each one bearing its unique bottle number.
Cardhu 14 Year Old Special Release 2019 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of caramel, hazelnut, almonds, pastry, waxed lemons, wood polish and raisins mingle on the nose.
Palate: The palate offers notes of zesty lemons, burnt toffee, toasted oak, rich fruit cake and chocolate sauce.
Finish: Warm baking spice and ginger cake flavours that linger in the finish.
Distillery Information
Cardhu is a Speyside distillery near Archiestown, Moray, Scotland, founded by the whisky smuggler John Cumming, and his wife Helen Cumming in 1824. The distillery is run by Diageo and the distillery's Scotch whisky makes up an important part of the Johnnie Walker blended whiskies.
