      Detailed Description

This wine has very pleasant and lovely aromas. On the palate it is very elegant, rich and full-bodied.

        Producer Information

Domaine Jean Chartron is a Burgundy wine producer based in Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune. It encompasses 13 hectares (32 acres) of vineyards spanning Puligny-Montrachet and its surrounding villages, and concentrates the majority of its attention on Burgundy's two key grape varieties: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The domaine was founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, the Mayor of Puligny. In 1873 he submitted a request to the city council for the name of the village of Puligny to be amended to include Montrachet – the most acclaimed of the village's Grand Cru vineyards. The council agreed and the iconic village has been known as Puligny-Montrachet ever since. Jean Chartron specialises in white wines, and has vines in three grand cru vineyards: Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne. On top of this, the domaine makes wines in a range of premier cru vineyards, including Les Pucelles and Les Folatières. About 10 percent of production is Pinot Noir, and Chartron's top example comes from the Puligny-Montrachet Le Cailleret Premier Cru vineyard. Harvest is carried out by hand at Domaine Jean Chartron and the vineyards are farmed organically without the use of herbicides or chemical pesticides. The Puligny-Montrachet vineyards lie on soils rich in clay, sand and limestone and enjoy a continental climate sheltered from northerly winds.
