      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: This estate is quickly returning from a long period of mediocrity. This sleeper of the vintage exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to copious notes of black raspberries, blueberries, loamy soil and roasted Provencal herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it should drink well for 10-12+ years.
      • VertdeVin: The nose is elegant, quite powerful and offers a certain concentration and a fine racy minerality. It reveals notes of black fruit and licorice associated with small notes of violet, a slight note of pepper as well as small woody notes. The palate is fruity, mineral, balanced, racy, elegant, suave, tight and offers a small fat and a beautiful matter. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of strawberry, blackberry and touches of cassis associated with touches of cherry, slight notes of spices as well as touches of cinnamon, tobacco and oak. Tannins are fine and slightly dry.

      Producer Information

Château Meyney is an estate in Saint-Estèphe. Formed as an ecclesiastical vineyard in 1662, it is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, although its modern history began in 1917 when it was acquired by the Cordier family. The vineyard is contained in a single 126 acres (51ha) site, which is unusual for a estate of this size. It is planted with around 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 percent Merlot and ten percent Petit Verdot with the typical Meyney blend reflecting these proportions. Depending on the vintage, the wine is aged for 16 to 24 months in French barriques. A second wine, Prieur de Meyney, is made from the younger vines on the estate. The estate was bought in 2004 by Crédit Agricole Grands Crus, whose other properties including Grand-Puy Ducasse in Pauillac and Château de Rayne Vigneau in Sauternes. Many critics feel the best wines produced at Meyney date from this recent period.
