The 2014 Hudson Vineyard Chardonnay is stunning. Initially, aromatics of honey, pear, longan fruit and brioche have persistent energy. Time in the glass starts to reveal savory notes, powdered cream and bees wax. The palate is rich with oily textures, but cut by striking, stony minerality. The more time this wine spends in the glass, the more it seems to offer. Enjoy over the next 10 to 15 years. The wine has a slight haziness showing our commitment to minimal intervention winemaking.

• Wine Advocate: Aubert’s debut with the famous Hudson Vineyard is the 2014 Chardonnay Hudson, which comes across like a premier cru Meursault. This is made from 20-year-old Wente clones and shows smoky hazelnut and almond notes, buttery tropical fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel and a big, forward style. I’m not sure this will be the longest-lived of the Aubert 2014s, but it is certainly the most flamboyant and showy at this stage.

• Vinous: The 2014 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard is an addition to the range. A wine of depth, creaminess and intensity, the 2014 boasts superb richness and depth. Ginger, orange blossom and candied lemon are some of the signatures, but above all else, the Hudson is a wine of vertical intensity and power. The wine gets better and better with time in the glass. Mark Aubert's Hudson Chardonnay comes from the parcel that David Ramey used to get, in what is considered the heart of the vineyard.
  

Producer Information

Aubert is a small Chardonnay and Pinot Noir estate that makes wine from single-vineyard sites in Napa Valley and Sonoma. It was founded by Mark and Teresa Aubert in 1999, and today, is considered to be one of California's cult producers.
The first vintage of Aubert was in 2000 – a Chardonnay sourced from the Ritchie Vineyard in Russian River Valley. It quickly received acclaim for its full-blown, hedonistic style and was pivotal for company's success. Although the vineyard is no longer within the company's holdings, the Burgundian syle in which the Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay was produced, remains as the production style throughout the wine portfolio. The chardonnay wines are barrel-fermented and aged in French oak, a majority of which is new.
Aubert's portfolio has since expanded to an array of single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines, sourced from multiple vineyard sites in Russian River and Rutherford as well as Napa and Sonoma. Each wine in Aubert's portfolio is named after the parcel of vineyard from which it is sourced and production is extremely limited. The Lauren vineyard is eight acres (3.2 hectares) of Chardonnnay, named after the founder's daughter and was the first estate vineyard of Aubert. Today, the compnay counts over ten different vineyards within its holdings.
