Producer Information

Ladera Vineyards is a Napa Valley wine producer located on Howell Mountain. It is best known for producing premium Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards on Howell Mountain and Mount Veeder as well as Malbec, Merlot, and Syrah wines depending on the vintage. The estate's historic winery, built in 1886, was restored by Pat and Anne Stotesbery in 2000. The 33 hectare (82 acre) Howell Mountain vineyard is planted to around 30ha (74 acres) of Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small portion of Sauvignon Blanc – atypical for the sub-region. The vineyard sits on a high plateau of volcanic soils, and vines are planted at altitudes ranging from 1600 to 1800 feet (500 to 550 meters) above sea level. The flagship of the Ladera wine portfolio is the Howell Mountain Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. After a hand-pick in the vineyard, the grapes were macerated for 7 days prior to fermentation. It is barrel-aged in new French oak barrels for 22 months prior to bottling. In addition to Ladera's Cabernet Sauvignon-centric portfolio, the family also produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley under the label Pillow Road Vineyard. In 2016, Ladera's winery and surrounding estate were sold to the PlumpJack Group, owners of the Napa Valley-based wineries PlumpJack and CADE Estate. The Ladera brand and inventory remain under the ownership of the Stotesbery family, who will continue to produce Ladera Vineyards wines with sourced fruit from various Napa Valley vineyards.
