      Dievole is an estate in the Chianti Classico wine region, located just north of the Tuscan city of Siena. It specializes in the grape varieties synonymous with Tuscany and Chianti Classico, cultivating Sangiovese as well as small parcels of Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca. The name Dievole stems from the Italian phrase "dio vuole", or God-willing. The estate covers approximately 400 hectares (988 acres) of land planted to both vineyards and olive groves. The vineyards are split into 16 distinct plots, covering around 55 hectares (136 acres). The vines are planted on southeast-facing slopes at altitudes of around 300m (984ft) above sea level. The soil types vary significantly across the different vineyard sites, with calcareous soils, clay, sand and marl all making an appearance. The Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino grapes for Dievole's flagship Chianti Classico wine are picked from 15-20 year-old vines, generally in the first few weeks of October. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts for 12-15 days in concrete fermenters or Slavonian oak casks. This is followed by a 14-month aging period in French oak barrels. The estate's portfolio also includes a Chianti Classico Riserva, four IGT Toscana wines (two of which are red, as well as a single white and rosé wine), two Vin Santos and a Grappa di Chianti Classico. Dievole has partnered with the University of Siena to produce a Chianti Classico from Certosa di Pontignano, and has also partnered with a series of winegrowers from across Europe to create its Plenum wine label. Plenum brings together the estate's Sangiovese grapes in a unique blend each vintage year with another iconic European grape variety. In 2013, Dievole was purchased by Argentinian oil billionaire Alejandro Bulgheroni and is now one of six Tuscan properties covering Chianti, Bolgheri and Montalcino that form the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards group in Italy. Bulgheroni owns numerous wineries worldwide, with estates in California, Uruguay, Bordeaux and the Barossa.
