Red Wine: 2018 | Pius | Cabernet Sauvignon

Very dark in the glass, this showers the nose with complex aromas of dark cocoa, black olive, peppercorn, tar, espresso and mint. There's a creamy and focused cassis kick to the sip, but it's the slightly bitter coffee and charred earth aspects that are most compelling.

        Producer Information

Pius is a young estate dedicated to small production, terroir-driven wines from the finest of Paso Robles locations. The estate is the brainchild of Anthony Versochi, one of the top winemakers at Daou, under Danny Daou himself. Pius is a Latin word with no direct translation into English. In ancient Rome, pius signified a pact or alliance with the gods. It could refer to a leader who created a relationship with the divine for the purpose of divine intervention. Pius became synonymous with virtue or worthiness, honor, dedication, duty, and with sacrifice for a noble purpose."At PIUS, we are inspired by two core principles: Craft and Sacrifice. We come back to these values over and over again. The greatest wines have always come from sacrifice. Life fire in the darkness, creation transforms – but for every prize there is a cost. The truest sacrifice comes from live and transforms the fear of failure."
