A glorious Riesling here from Verus Vineyards in Slovenia! The grapes are harvested from vines over 30 years old, producing small, but rich and characterful yields. This young white wine has a crisp, fruity, and lightly floral character – beautifully delicate, it would make a fab aperitif and a great accompaniment to lighter dishes like salads.

Up until the last 20 years, Slovenia was dominated by cooperatives, and Verus is one of the few producers breaking boundaries by producing and bottling their own wines. Verus stands for true, real, actual, sincere, — qualities of both their people and their wines. The fruit in Verus’ wines come from the dramatic and beautiful steep slopes around the historical world heritage sites of Ormož, considered to be one of the best subregions within Stajerska Slovenia. . Verus’ vineyards are sustainably farmed, and at harvest time their pristine fruit is hand-picked into small, shoebox sized crates. Through their expertise and precise work in the vineyards and the cellar, they strive for their wine to maintain the purity of their fruit, the location, the soil, the vintage and the surrounding area.
