A gloriously well-aged single malt from Glenburgie, distilled in 1988 and matured for 35 years in a single cask. That cask was opened by Hunter Laing in 2023, independently releasing a total of 101 cask strength bottles for its Old & Rare Platinum collection.

Nose: Very elegant and precise aromas.

Palate: The palate is very powerful and complex. Smooth texture.

Finish: Quite delicate and smooth texture on the long finish.

Distillery Information

The Irish author Maurice Walsh trained for the Civil Service. On the 2nd July, 1901 he started work for the Customs and Excise Service as an Assistant Revenue Officer. Posted to Scotland, Walsh spent some time at the Glenburgie whisky distillery. One of his works, The Quiet Man, would later be reproduced in a film starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara and released in 1952. The Glenburgie distillery was first founded as the Kilnflat Distillery in 1810 by William Paul. Production did not begin until almost twenty years later.
