Smoking Loon Chardonnay opens with aromas of toasted almond and apricot, with nuances of vanilla and baked apple. Medium-bodied and well-balanced, flavors of fresh fruit salad, and creme brulee intermingle on the palate. The long finish and soft acidity makes it a great food pairing with calamari and spicy aioli sauce, and grilled chicken.

Smoking Loon is a wine brand based in California, USA. The range includes a rosé, Moscato, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, an oaked and unoaked Chardonnay. Red wines include a blend typically combining around nine different varieties. Single variety bottlings include Pinot Noir, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah, Old Vine Zinfandel and several Cabernet Sauvignons. Smoking Loon is owned by Don Sebastiani and Sons whose other labels include Pepperwood Grove and Aquinas Napa Valley. The wines are all marketed as being affordable, easy to drink and food friendly. To reach desired proce points, the grapes are often sourced from different regions with emphasis placed on grape variety. Grapes are not just sourced from local Californian vineyards and beyond. This has included other US states and even Chile. The distinctive, colorful branding features, as the name suggests, a loon bird having a smoke.
