        Producer Information

Behind the company in the valley below is the village of San Giorgio known as "in gana poltron" which houses a splendid Romanesque parish church. The Sengia farm includes eight and a half hectares of vineyards cultivated mostly with Guyot and a part with Veronese pergoletta, with a density of plants per hectare of approximately 6,000 vines for Guyot and 3300 for pergoletta. The grapes grow and ripen here, in full respect of the exclusively "native" Veronese tradition: Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara. From the harvesting of these grapes, from the natural drying on racks and from the traditional winemaking process, the two highly prized product lines "Sengia" and "Il Velluto" are obtained. The remaining four hectares of land are cultivated for approximately one and a half hectares as olive groves and the remainder are kept as woodland so as not to affect the microclimate of the valley. The average production is around 80 quintals per hectare. From the three and a half hectares of the "Maso" farm, entirely cultivated with Guyot with a planting density of approximately 6000 vines per hectare and positioned at an altitude of approximately 230 meters above sea level, located in the "Grola" area, the last hill of the Valpolicella Classica and an area still considered among the most suitable today for the quality of the calcareous-clayey soils and the particularly benevolent climate thanks to the influence of the nearby Lake Garda which mitigates the temperatures in summer and winter, the grapes come richer and more structured always exclusively native which, thanks to the peculiarities of the soil and their health, are the most suitable for the natural drying and production of Amarone and Recioto. The average production of the land is around 80 quintals per hectare.
