Producer Information
In 1817 the Grand Duke Leopold of Tuscany began writing a modern cadastre land in Maremma, Tuscany; the Leoponlin Cadastre mentioned in those times the vineyards today that are part of Pepi Lignana Fattoria Il Casalone. For this reason they named their Vermentino ”Leopoldino”;” Poggio Colombi” their red Cabernet Sauvignon originates from the eponymous name “Colombi”of one parcel of land. The “Cucchetto”-their red Cabernet Sauvignon made in barriques- takes its name from the original definition used by local farmers to call the highest part of the vineyard, Cucchetto, precisely. Finally the name “Cerida” chosen for their Sangiovese originates from the name of a famous sailing boat acquired in England by Corrado Lignana after the second world war. It later became popular with several variations in the theme.
