Medium to deep ruby red core. Some new oak, roasted notes, leather and wild berries on the nose. Medium bodied with dense fruit with young but ripe tannin, some woody notes and dry spices, still a bit youthful and firm on the finish but rather long and persistent.

• VertdeVin: The nose is relatively aromatic, slightly powerful / concentrated and offers a fine elegance. It reveals notes of wild cassis, crushed blackberry and fine notes of crushed redcurrant combined with a touch of morello cherry, touches of chocolate powder, blue flowers, caramelized oak as well as subtle touches of cardamon and an imperceptible hint of gray pepper (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced, fat, round, silky, finely powerful and offers suavity, a nice juiciness, a nice definition and a fine freshness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, juicy red berries and touches of fleshy Gariguette strawberry combined with fine touches of crushed blueberry, toasted oak, caramelization and a subtle touch of vanilla Bourbon. Tannins are well-built. Good length. The persistence is gourmande.

Producer Information

Situated on the eastern flank of the Pomerol commune, La Conseillante has a long history dating back the early 1700s. The team farms around 13 hectares of vineyards, comprising 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. All grapes are hand harvested, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with a keen eye on temperature control to preserve fruit character. Following fermentation, the wines are aged in 90% new oak for around 18 months before being bottled without filtration. The vineyards of La Conseillante share borders with those of L'Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château Certan and Cheval Blanc - illustrious neighbours indeed. Since the 2000 vintage, the wines have been characterised by a fullness and concentration that easily allows for extended cellaring and offers a hedonistic treat in youth.
