Based in Auxey-Duresses, Domaine des Terres de Velle is a relatively new producer which was established in 2009 by husband-and-wife team Sophie and Fabrice Laronze. Every year, the couple produces 16 different wines from grapes harvested on their 7-hectare estate, which comprises a real patchwork of different terroirs. This release is their village-level Meursault from 2017, an elegant vintage with a very promising future.
Producer Information
The story of Domaine Des Terres De Velle started in the year 2009 with six hectares divided into 25 small parcels in the prestigious villages of the southern Côte de Beaune. Within the parcels are Premier Crus in Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, and, Volnay and the vineyard production is roughly 30,000 bottles a year. Sophie and Fabrice created a small winery at Domaine Des Terres De Velle from the ground up. This accomplishment is extremely difficult and rare in a world where inheritance and history dominate the narratives of most other winery estates in the region.
