      Detailed Description

A wild nose, with notes of spice, undergrowth, and blond tobacco, jammy black fruit aromas, blackcurrant and Morello cherry.

        Producer Information

It is one of the great revelations in Languedoc, Domaine La Terrasse d'Elise has been the subject of much ink (and wine!) for several years now. Through hard work, but also talent, Xavier Braujou, winemaker and former lumberjack, has made it an essential name in the French wine landscape. Located in Aniane, north of Montpellier (Hérault), La Terrasse d'Elise has a dozen hectares mainly planted with red (Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdres, Carignan, etc.), supplemented by two hectares of white (Marsanne, Roussanne, Chardonnay), all conducted according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming but without certification. Located on places called 'La Terrasse' and 'Les Graves' in the eastern part of the Terrasse du Larzac, in a soil of rolled pebbles and clay-limestone, the old vines with a very low yield (20hl/ha) are grown in cups . The blend of different terroirs of the vineyard are, today as in the past, above all single grape varieties; and we love them madly! It's a bit of the signature of the estate, we could say... Xavier from the La Terrasse d'Elise estate , is a meticulous winemaker who knows his terroir perfectly and masters his breeding wonderfully. By following his experience and his intuition, this self-taught winemaker has built a solid reputation as an artisan winemaker by sometimes going against the principles of the region's appellations, most of which dictate blends of several grape varieties. The wines of Xavier Braujou command respect, it must be admitted. Moreover, he does not hesitate to keep a vintage for the necessary time in his cellar 'at rest' if he considers that the need is real. The harvest is obviously manual, as with all great wines, and the aging generally takes place in barrels except for the XB and Siclène vintages. Driven by a passion for wine and its terroir, Xavier Braujou of Terrasse d'Elise produces exciting wines with great rigor, in no way suffering from comparison with his illustrious neighbors La Grange des Pères or Mas Daumas. Gassac or the Olivier Cohen estate - Les vignes d'Olivier . From XB to Elise, including L'Enclos, Le Pigeonnier and of course Le Pradel, praised by all critics, each of the vintages of La Terrasse d'Elise is a unique experience. Also note the Domaine's whites, like Siclène, impressive in their complexity, there are so many beautiful things to discover at Xavier.
