Red Wine: 2017 | Yann Durieux | BT Les Boutieres

This spicy, hay-tinged wine shows very clearly that Aligoté doesn’t have to be an inferior variety – and also that it takes to long skin contact (here 30 days) like a charm, fleshing out just enough to add textural interest.

      Detailed Description

This spicy, hay-tinged wine shows very clearly that Aligoté doesn’t have to be an inferior variety – and also that it takes to long skin contact (here 30 days) like a charm, fleshing out just enough to add textural interest. Producer Information

Recrue des Sens is a wine producer based in Messanges in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits region of Burgundy. It is run by the well-regarded minimal-intervention winegrower Yann Durieux and lies just west of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Durieux both buys-in fruit and farms his own vines in the region, producing a number of wines from the regional staples of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Aligoté. The three-hectare (7.5 acre) estate vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic. Standard bottlings include the Bourgogne Aligoté Love and Pif, Manon (Chardonnay ), Black Pinot and La Gouzzotte (Pinot Noir). Other labels, generally coming under the Vin de France indicator, use initials to indicate the wine's place of origin without falling foul of strict appellation laws. Prior to setting out on his own, Durieux spent a decade working in the cellars of the acclaimed Domaine Prieuré-Roch in Nuits-Saint-Georges. According to natural wine expert Isabelle Legeron MW, Durieux is "one of the most exciting producers to come out of Burgundy recently".
