• Wine Advocate: From a cooler vintage in the area of Castagneto Carducci, especially during the first half of the growing season, the 2018 Bolgheri Rosso shows a big dose of sweet cherry that defines a good portion of the overall bouquet. That fruit signature is indeed very strong, luscious and fresh in this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. This vintage offers more life and energy compared to the more even-keeled 2017 vintage that I tasted at the same time. Ironically, this wine also seems to deliver the sweeter aromas of the two. Some 4,800 bottles were made.

• James Suckling: Aromas of blackberries, tar and wet earth follow through to a medium body with bright, chewy tannins and a pretty finish. Some iodine character, too. Delicious, savory aftertaste. It’s drinkable now, but will deliver more in a year or two.
