White Wine: 2019 | Pikes | Hills & Valleys Riesling

Brilliant pale green. Spotless aromas of citrus, stone fruit and slate are quite evident here. Also a little swirl of florals and bath powder are lurking somewhere in the mix too. Bright and attractive.

      Detailed Description

Brilliant pale green. Spotless aromas of citrus, stone fruit and slate are quite evident here. Also a little swirl of florals and bath powder are lurking somewhere in the mix too. Bright and attractive. Fresh, clean and bright, the palate is chockfull of lemon, kaffir lime and stone fruit, the crisp acidity balancing the hint of residual sweetness nicely providing a clean and gentle finish.

      Reviews:

      • Wine Enthusiast: This cuvée is a zingy, regionally expressive drop. Bright notes of apple, lemon and lime are underscored by honey and spice. Rapier-like acidity dominates the palate, but there’s plenty of fruit here, too. Balance it out with a Thai curry or an equally spicy, creamy dish.
      • Wine Advocate: The slightly off-dry 2019 Hills & Valleys Riesling (12 grams per liter residual sugar) was picked slightly earlier than the Traditionale Dry Riesling. With only 9.5% alcohol, it's a fresh, mouthwatering example of Australian Riesling, offering intense citrus aromas, hints of honey and peach on the medium-bodied palate and a long, fine finish.

      Producer Information

We've farmed in Oregon for five generations and grown wine grapes in Oregon's Willamette Valley for over four decades. After years of producing some of Oregon's most acclaimed wines at Elk Cove Vineyards, we decided to create a new Oregon wine company focused on quality Pinot Noir under $20. We named this wine project Pike Road after the winding road that runs adjacent to our vineyards at the foothills of Oregon's Coast Range Mountains. Pike Road is made from estate grown grapes and a smaller amount of fruit we purchase. We are committed to preserving small family farms here in the Willamette Valley through our relationships with partner growers, some of whom we have worked with for decades. This is the best place in the New World to grow Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, and we are so pleased to be here at Pike Road.
