The 2020 vintage of Calafuria is bright peach-blossom pink color. On the nose, Calafuria offers fruity notes of peaches, pink grapefruit and pomegranate that merge with delicate floral sensations of wisteria flowers. Its palate is supple, bright with pleasing freshness in perfect balance with its aromatic persistence with a delicate savory note on the finish.

• Vinous: The 2020 Rosato Salento Calafuria shows the quality of Negroamaro in Rosé form, opening with a dusty display of dried flowers and spice, then evolving further to reveal notes of chamomile-laced crushed yellow apple and sweet melon. This is soft-textured, energized by zesty acids that combine with a harmonious inner sweetness and a hint of effervescence to create a fully satisfying expression. Inner rose and young strawberry linger long though the juicy finale.

• Wilfred Wong: The 2020 Tormaresca Calafuria is delicious rosé wine. TASTING NOTES: This wine exhibits attractive aromas and flavors of stone fruit, red berries, and mineral notes. Pair it with an avocado, red tuna roll.

Producer Information

Societa Agricola Tormaresca is a producer in Puglia, which produces wines from the Castel del Monte appellation and a range of Salento IGT wines from two separate estates. It is part of the Antinori wine company. The first estate, Tenuta Bocca di Lupo at Minervino Murge in Castel del Monte, has 140 hectares (346 acres) of vineyards on chalky soils. This estate makes four wines: the Bocca di Lupo Castel del Monte Aglianico, Pietrablanca Chardonnay, Trentangeli Rosso (which is an Aglianico-dominant blend with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah) and the Kaloro Moscato di Trani dessert wine. The second estate is in Maìme, Salento, and has around 350 hectares (865 acres) of vineyards. The range comprises the Masseria Maìme Negroamaro, Torcicoda Primitivo, Roycello Fiano, along with the Calafuria Negroamaro Rosato and the Fichimori IGT Salento, which combines Negroamaro with a little Syrah in a cuvée designed for chilling.
