Tequila : 7 Leguas Añejo

Great luminosity of yellow hues with full-bodied golden reflections. Subtle scents of slowly-cooked agave mingle with delicate oak notes in the full aroma of its maturity after 24 months of loving care.

Size: 750ML

Proof: 80 (40% ABV)

Origin: Mexico

Distillery: Siete Leguas distillery

Detailed Description

Siete Leguas is produced at their two distilleries El Centenario and La Vencedora, each employing a different process to prepare the agave for distillation. At one they use a tahona, a large millstone pulled by two mules which was the first method used to crush agave. At the other a molino, an old-fashioned roller mill, is used. The juices are combined and distilled twice in copper stills and filtered to remove all impurities. Their añejo is then aged for 24 months in white oak barrels.

Tequila 7 Leguas Añejo Tasting Notes

Nose: Warm, intense nose of cedar, browned butter, vanilla frosting, and butterscotch, with hints of bell pepper, banana, and apple.

Palate: Full bodied but not oily, warm cinnamon, vanilla, and just barely noticeable barrel tannins give a nice structure to the mouth feel. More restrained and less sweet than many other añejos make this a sophisticated sipper.

Finish: Oily, complex, outstanding.

Distillery Information

The Tequila Siete Leguas distillery was responsible for producing the "original" Patron Tequila brand, and brand rights were sold to St. Maarten Spirits, owners John Paul DeJoria (Paul Mitchell Hair Products) and Martin Crowley in 1989. As the brand grew, Tequila Siete Leguas was no longer able to keep up with production, and Patron built a new distillery and moved all production in 2002.
