Detailed Description

This is a blended whiskey comprised of about 15% pot still whiskey with the remainder consisting of column still grain whiskey. It is filtered through Atlantic oak charcoal before aging for four years. The whiskey is named after The Battle of Clontarf near Dublin in the year 1014. King Brian Boru led his men to victory against the mighty Vikings in a long, hard-fought battle on Good Friday. The King died in battle, but the Vikings left Ireland alone for the most part afterwards.

Clontarf Irish 1014 Black Label Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: The entry is light, but sweet with vanilla and corn cast as the leading actors. Grains and apple juice play secondary roles.

Palate: The bourbon cask influence comes through on the palate and accentuates the mostly corn based whiskey.

Finish: It is slightly slick, soft, and sweet with the spice factor held to a minimum from beginning to end.
