From Silver Seal's Whisky is Class...ical range comes a 22 year old Clynelish, distilled back in 1993 and bottled in 2016. The label gives reference to L'elisir d'amore, a 19th century Italian opera by Gaetano Donizetti.
Clynelish 22 Year Old Bottle 1 of 15 Magnum 1993 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 1.5L Tasting Notes
Nose: Enjoyably waxy (as you always want your Clynelish to be), with hints of thyme honey and marzipan in support.
Palate: Buttered rye bread, dark chocolate with flakes of sea salt, some warming cardamom seed notes later on.
Finish: Herbaceous heat lasts, along with spiced molasses.
Distillery Information
The original Clynelish distillery was founded in the village of Brora in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford, notorious for his role in the Highland Clearances. It was subsequently rebuilt on a new site across the road in 1968, and the original Clyenlish distillery was renamed as the Brora distillery. The new Clynelish distillery building was designed following the blueprint of the Caol Ila distillery on Islay.
