Ichishima Sake

Ichishima Sake also referred to as a Japanese rice wine, is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting rice that has been polished to remove the bran.In Japan, where it is the national beverage, sake is often served with special ceremony – gently warmed in a small earthenware or porcelain bottle, and sipped from a small porcelain cup called a sakazuki.

Ichishima Sake Tasting Notes

Nose: Clay pot, ground nuts, toasted coconut milk, and banana leaf.

Palate: Notes of sweet cream, caramelized pear, and dried pineapple.

Finish: Sweet cream, caramelized pear, and dried pineapple finish.

Distillery Information

Owned and run by the Ichishima family since its founding in 1790. Although steeped in tradition, Ichishima has a history of progressive thinking. Fourth generation president and owner Chomatsu Ichishima created the Aumont label in the style of European crests, and encouraged the hire of female workers; one of the first breweries to do so.
